Home Garden began as a shared notebook between a landscape designer, a general contractor and an editor who kept killing houseplants. Today it is an independent publication read by more than 400,000 American homeowners each month.

Every guide we publish is written by someone who has done the work — dug the bed, patched the drywall, priced the lumber. We test the products we recommend, disclose affiliate relationships plainly, and update older articles as materials, codes and prices change.
